When You’re Tired and Lacking Sleep
Worries in the Night
What do you do when you’re tired and lacking sleep? A few weeks ago, I was struggling with my sleep schedule. I woke up in the middle of the night - filled with life’s worries and could not rest. So I decided to get up and make a venture to Westhaven, a neighborhood with a beautiful water feature close to downtown Franklin.
The scene was breathtaking, really. As the sun danced across the rippling pond, I spent time in reflection and talked to the Lord — thanking Him for who He is, praising Him for the women in the ministry, and expressing my gratitude for our ministry partners.
A Divine Appointment
Once High Brow Coffee opened, I made my way in for a quick bite. And right behind was John Bevere, waiting to buy coffee.
Now, Lisa Bevere’s Girls with Swords was a monumental book for my faith journey during college. So I was excited to meet the man who led her to the Lord and encouraged her to step into her calling.
Let me tell you — I have never met someone with such joy! The encounter was a huge blessing to me. We talked for a few minutes about the MessengerX Bible app, God’s generosity, and the appreciation for a good espresso. (He also asked if I wanted a picture, so I had to say yes. ) I walked away from that moment strengthened in my faith and further equipped to follow Jesus, wherever He leads.
Joy is Possible
I share this story to encourage you today. In a moment of my own restlessness and a time when I couldn’t find the peace to even close my eyes — God saw me and met me. He sent me out into His beautiful creation to remind me of His mighty works (Romans 1:20). He provided a delicious breakfast before my long day at work (Psalm 23:1). And He allowed me to meet John, a brother in Christ, who shared the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
So I want to remind you today — there is always joy to be found when you seek after God with all of your heart. Never fail to follow where He leads. And even when you’re tired and lacking sleep, He will make His presence and peace known to you — because He loves you!
We have some great gatherings coming up this month at The Place for you to find community and be encouraged in your faith. You never know who God wants to connect for His glory.
