The Touch of Heaven
“Wherever he went—in villages, cities, or the countryside—they brought the sick out to the marketplaces. They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed.”
- Mark 6:56 NLT
The Power of Physical Touch
Jesus wasn’t afraid to get dirty. He didn’t turn up His nose at the unsightly. Rather, He used intimate connection—physical touch—as a means to bring about healing, deliverance, and restoration. And through His wonder-working hands, Jesus revealed Himself to be the Savior of the world.
Those masterful hands, which formed the foundations of the earth, are the same holy hands that formed you and me. And His renewing hands are still at work in and through the lives of the redeemed.
Our world desperately needs a touch of heaven. For forming and creating. For healing and blessing. For breaking and mending. For equipping and sending. I’m grateful that the One who holds the whole world is faithful to finish what He starts. And He uses His church to be His helping hands until the day He returns in the flesh to carry us home.
Move with Compassion
This Holy Week, how are you reaching out to touch the world with heaven? Here’s my prayer as I reflect and look forward to Easter Sunday. I hope these simple words guide your time with the Father and that you are moved with compassion to reach out to just one person who needs to experience His saving power. I assure you—His arm is never too short.
The Touch of Heaven
“Touch my body, Lord, that I may feel you near.
Touch my mind, Lord, that I may know you here.
Touch my heart, Lord, that I may love you still.
Touch my life, Lord, that I may do your will.
Touch my fears, Lord, and all of my plans
That I may learn to trust You and the touch of Your hands.
Touch this world, Lord, and all of our days
That we may worship you forever and always.”
